This presentation is about the holistic representation of youth charged in municipal court charged with low-level misdemeanors- mostly school.

Our Office's mission is to stop the school-to-prison pipeline. We are the only Municipal Court in Colorado that has Public Defenders for Youth, so we are building this from the ground up. Of utmost importance is also looking at how Denver is over-ticketing Black girls and pushing them out of school, which is right in alignment with the recent National Data. This presentation will look not only at our own representation from a holistic and community-based lens but also at the importance of youth defense stepping into the arena of the prison pipeline and the protection of Black Girls.
