About me
Penny Hunter is a graduate of North Georgia College and State University in Dahlonega, Georgia and a 2012 graduate of the Appalachian School of Law in Grundy, Virginia. After law school she worked for Strickland, Chesnutt, and Lindsey in Winder, Georgia. In 2013, she was offered an APD position at the Enotah Circuit Public Defender’s Office and primarily accepted the position to avoid additional time in family law battles. Shortly after her work as a public defender began, Penny realized that she had a passion for public defense. After tough losses, fulfilling victories, and the chance to personally offer help to broken people in broken times, Penny has no doubt that this is the work she was created to do.
In 2021 Penny became the Circuit Public Defender of the Enotah Judicial Circuit. She is fortunate to lead an incredible group of public defenders. She resides in her hometown of Lula, Georgia with her husband and two sons.
